Server Options

All 666servers will come with everything needed to run your media server. If you want to add Emby or Plex, an additional one time setup fee is needed. Your VPS will be an 8-core linux system with UNLIMIED drive space.

Your VPS will run on the latest version of Ubuntu – a Linux OS. You will have a stable environment to handle most of your needs. There is no high end GPU but if you stream videos direct and disable transcoding, you will have no problem handling many simultaneous streams.

Jellyfin is a free and powerful media server that’s included on your 666 server unless you request otherwise. Jellyfin is an open source server that was originally taken over from Emby when Emby went commercial. Dedicated programmers and professionals kept the free open source server going with improvements and added features coming in frequently.
PRO: Open source and completely free server.
CON: Client availability and quality is lacking.

Emby is an optional server you may want to add. This is the commercial version of Jellyfin and looks very similar to each other. 666server will install the standard version of Emby but you can easily convert it to the premium version if you choose. The cost of the premium version is $115 for a lifetime account. A premium account isn’t really necessary. You can run an Emby server easily without one.
PRO: Larger client base compared to Jellyfin
CON: You need to buy the premium account to unlock all features.

Plex is another optional server that has a large following. There’s a client for almost any device out there from Samsung to Play Station. There’s an installation fee to include this on your server and the standard version is installed. You can upgrade to a premium server if you wish but is not required.
Even though Plex is installed on your server, people require a free Plex account to access your media. Plex has full control over the access to your server. If they feel you somehow violated their TOS, they can, and will, shut your Plex server down. Therefore, Plex is not recommended.
PRO: Highly polished with a wide variety of clients.
CON: Plex has full control over your server.
