FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I order?

We will custom build your server to your specifications. This will take a day or two. We will install all applications and configure them to interact with each other. Ombi will talk to Radarr which will talk to Jellyfin/Emby/Plex which will communicate back to the other apps. Everything will be connected. No media content will be added. After everything looks good to you, we are done and you control the server and apps and we’re hands off. We’ll be there to support you if something goes awry.

What format should the media be in?

We find the best format for direct streaming is .mp4. Best practice is to turn off all transcoding so direct streaming is the way to go.

How much diskspace do I get?

You get an UNLIMITED amount of disk space to store all of your media. No need to worry about not having enough room ever again.

What will the URL be for my server?

Your server will have a URL with your user name. For example, if your user name is “wicked” then your server URL will be wicked.666server.com.
Each server application will have it’s own port number. The port number for Jellyfin is 8096. So to access Jellyfin, you would enter wicked.666server.com:8096.

Can I use my own domain?

Of course, once we set up your server, we’ll give you the fixed IP address where you can configure your DNS to point to that server. If you need a custom domain, we highly recommend LA-Internet.com.
We can help you set that up.

What kind of media can I upload?

We do not monitor the media you add. It is your sole responsibility to only upload legitimate media.

Is media supplied with the server?

No. You supply all the media/content for the media server. We do provide the tools needed for you to accomplish this.

What servers and apps are installed?

You can see more details on the programs installed on the server. Besides Jellyfin, Emby, and/or Plex, each 666server also includes;

  • Radarr – Movie Searches
  • Sonarr – Episode Searches
  • Ombi – Request Page
  • SABnzbd – Newsgroup Retrieval
  • qBittorrent – Torrent Retrieval

You can see more details on the Server Options page.

What else do I need?

You also need outside accounts for retrieving media.
For Newsgroups, you need an Indexer and a Retriever.
For Indexer, we recommend NZBPlanet
For Retriever, we recommend NewsGroupDirect

For Torrents, you don’t need a Proxy but it’s HIGHLY recommended.
We recommend Private Internet Access

If you want both retrievals, you need all of the above.

Can this be used for businesses?

Absolutely!  This is a great source of value to your customers.  Hotel/Motels/Resorts can have premium videos and tourist information on every TV they have..  Sports bard can show vlassic sports evens.  Educational facilities and show classroom videos that can be accessed on demand.  The possibilities are endless.
